The idea was born during a frustrating Thursday afternoon while preparing for a church ministration. Taiwo found himself constantly switching between a Bible application and a digital notebook on his Samsung tablet, repeatedly copying and pasting scriptures manually.
“What if a note app could simply detect Jeremiah or Romans instantly and display the scripture automatically?” he wondered.
That simple frustration became the foundation for VerseTap.
Today, VerseTap is becoming one of Nigeria’s emerging faith-based technology innovations, blending artificial intelligence with practical ministry needs. The application automatically recognises Bible references and instantly displays passages without interrupting the user’s writing flow.
For Taiwo, AI is not meant to replace spirituality but to simplify ministry work.
“From the days of stone tablets to ink and paper, the tools have always changed while the assignment remained the same,” he explained.
Beyond convenience, VerseTap was deliberately engineered with Africa’s realities in mind. The platform works offline, an important feature for churches and worship centres where internet connectivity is often unstable. It also adopts a privacy-first architecture, ensuring users’ sermons, notes, and doctrinal materials remain secure and are not stored on central servers.
Instead, the app synchronises directly with users’ personal cloud storage, protecting sensitive ministerial content from exploitation.
The innovation has already gained international attention. Within months of launch, VerseTap reportedly attracted users across more than 35 countries, with the United States emerging as one of its largest markets outside Nigeria.
Taiwo, who also serves as Regional Administrator of the MFM Youth Church and CEO of Clarylife Global Limited, says the goal is to continue expanding the platform with features like commentaries, concordances, cross-references, and enhanced cloud restoration systems.
