Former Supervisory Councillors who served during the Omituntun 1.0 administration in Oyo State have declared their total support for Governor Seyi Makinde following his declaration to contest for the Presidency of Nigeria under the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
The group, under the umbrella of the Ex-Chairman Supervisory Forum Oyo State 2021/2024, also endorsed Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi as their preferred governorship candidate for the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.
The endorsement was made shortly after the PDP-APM Unity Mega Rally, in a statement signed by Hon. Oni Micheal A., from Oorelope Local Government and former Chairman of the Supervisory Councillors Forum in Oyo State.
According to the statement, the former supervisory councillors described Governor Makinde’s presidential declaration as “a bold and timely step toward resetting Nigeria,” noting that his leadership style, infrastructural achievements, and people-oriented governance in Oyo State have positioned him as a credible leader capable of steering the nation toward progress.
The group stated that Makinde’s administration has demonstrated competence, transparency, and inclusive governance, adding that Nigerians deserve a leader with proven administrative capacity and a clear vision for national development.
They further pledged to mobilize support across the grassroots for the governor’s presidential ambition under the APM platform, while urging Nigerians to embrace what they described as the “Reset Nigeria Movement.”
Speaking on the 2027 governorship race in Oyo State, the former supervisory councillors expressed confidence in Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, describing him as a loyal party man, experienced administrator, and grassroots politician with the capacity to sustain and consolidate the developmental strides of the Makinde administration.
The statement added that Adekanmbi possesses the leadership qualities, political experience, and understanding of governance required to move Oyo State forward beyond 2027.
The forum also called on political stakeholders, party loyalists, youths, and members of the public to remain united and committed to the collective vision of sustaining good governance in Oyo State and supporting Makinde’s national aspiration.
They reaffirmed their readiness to continue engaging with communities across the state in mobilizing support for both Governor Makinde’s presidential ambition and Adekanmbi’s governorship project ahead of the forthcoming elections.
