The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Lagos State, Prince (Hon) Laja Adeoye MPD, has declared that Nigerians are ready for a new political direction as opposition forces converge for the much-anticipated PDP-APM Unity Rally scheduled to hold at the historic Mapo Hall, Ibadan, on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
In a strongly worded statement released ahead of the rally, Adeoye described the gathering as a “historic convergence of patriots and visionaries” committed to rescuing Nigeria from hardship, hunger, and what he termed the “mis-governance” of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Lagos guber hopeful, while welcoming party leaders, members, supporters, and Nigerians from different political backgrounds, said the rally would serve as a platform for forging genuine partnerships capable of delivering national rebirth and people-oriented governance.
According to him, the unity rally, being held under the leadership of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, represents more than a political gathering, stressing that it symbolizes a renewed commitment to national transformation and inclusive leadership.
Adeoye noted that leaders and stakeholders from different political associations and parties would use the occasion to set aside partisan interests and focus on building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
“This is more than a rally. It is a bold convergence of visionaries and patriots united by a shared purpose to rescue Nigeria and restore hope to the people,” he stated.
He further emphasized that the coalition movement would prioritize transparent governance, economic revival, job creation, security, infrastructure development, and improved living standards for citizens, particularly Lagos residents.
The APM governorship candidate also declared that the “wind of positive change” is already sweeping across the country, urging Nigerians to embrace unity and collective action in pursuit of justice, progress, and shared prosperity.
Adeoye maintained that the alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the APM would strengthen democratic collaboration and usher in a politics driven by service, accountability, and national interest above personal ambition.
The Unity Rally is expected to attract prominent political figures, party loyalists, youth groups, civil society organisations, and supporters from across the country, amid growing conversations around opposition realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
