The Executive Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government. Alh Abdulrahman Olanrewaju Adepoju has called on parents and guardians to closely monitor and guide their children and wards against engaging in immoral and criminal activities, warning that anyone found culpable will be dealt with decisively, regardless of status.
The Chairman gave this warning during a peace and security meeting held at the Council Secretariat, Onireke, Ibadan.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chief Security Officer of the Local Government disclosed that recent security reports indicate the emergence of some underage individuals involved in activities that threaten the peace of the council area. He therefore urged parents to be vigilant and ensure their children are properly guided, stressing that involvement in criminal acts could jeopardize their future.
The Executive Chairman also directed all security operatives to intensify efforts in curbing any form of unruly behavior among teenagers. He emphasized that anyone apprehended should be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Furthermore, he reiterated that neither the Local Government nor any security agency has granted permission to any individual or group to block roads for social activities. He warned that violators would face the full wrath of the law.
While appreciating the efforts of the security agencies, Alh Adepoju encouraged them not to relent in their duties to sustain the peaceful atmosphere currently enjoyed by residents of the Local Government.
In their separate remarks, security officials commended the Executive Chairman for his steadfastness and unwavering commitment to ensuring a crime-free environment. They also acknowledged the provision of necessary logistics to support their operations and pledged their continued cooperation with the Chairman and the Oyo State Government in achieving a safer society.
Present at the meeting included the Vice Chairman, the Secretary to the Local Government, the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA), the Acting HLGA, Director of Administration and General Services (DAGS), Deputy DAGS, representatives of various security agencies, the CDC Chairman, representative of CAN, the Baale of Onireke and a representative of the Igbo community.
