Afeez Bolaji Repete has officially declared his intention to contest for the Senate seat representing Oyo Central Senatorial District in the 2026 general elections, following his collection of expression of interest and nomination forms on April 30, 2026.
In a statement via his social media addressed to the people of the district, Repete described his decision as a “deliberate and considered offer” rooted in years of public service experience at both state and national levels. He emphasized that his ambition is driven by a desire to serve rather than personal gain or political desperation.
According to him, his aspiration is anchored on a commitment to inclusive leadership that caters to both young and old constituents across Oyo Central. He expressed confidence in his capacity to deliver on the mandate if given the opportunity.
Repete also called on other aspirants within his political party to prioritise unity and collective interest over individual ambition, urging that the party’s cohesion should remain paramount beyond the primaries.
“After the primary, our unity and togetherness will matter much more than who has the ticket. Only one person will emerge, and with your support, I am confident in your ability to trust me on this assignment,” he said, calling for a peaceful and issue-based contest.
He further urged stakeholders to conduct themselves with honour during the electoral process and to close ranks after the emergence of a candidate, stressing the importance of party unity in securing electoral success.
Reflecting on his political philosophy, Repete noted that true leadership is about responsibility and trust rather than authority, stating that stewardship should be defined by faithful service to the people.
He concluded by expressing appreciation for continued support from constituents and prayed for divine blessings over their households, adding that togetherness would be key to future success.
