A major political realignment appears underway ahead of the 2027 general elections, as two prominent figures, Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, are set to formally defect from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) soon.
According to an invitation circulated to journalists via the NDC’s official media WhatsApp platform, the high-profile declaration is scheduled to hold by 2:00 p.m. in Abuja.
The move, which had previously been denied in some quarters, is expected to signal the emergence of what party insiders have described as the “OK Movement,” a political alliance believed to be gathering momentum within the NDC ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
Both leaders are expected to be formally received by the National Leader of the party and former Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson, alongside the party’s National Chairman, Moses Cleopas, and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC).
Party officials have described the anticipated defection as a strong indication of growing national acceptance and confidence in the NDC, positioning the party as a formidable platform in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.
Political observers say the development could reshape alliances and intensify competition as key actors begin to consolidate ahead of the next electoral cycle.
