As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections gather momentum, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced its schedule for primary elections, setting its presidential nomination form at ₦100 million.
In the timetable released by the party, the presidential primary is slated to hold between May 15 and May 16, 2026, signaling the kickoff of its internal processes to select candidates for the next general elections.
The party disclosed that the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms will run from April 25 to May 2, while the deadline for submission of completed forms is May 4, 2026.
A breakdown of the fees shows that presidential aspirants are expected to pay ₦30 million for the expression of interest form and ₦70 million for the nomination form, bringing the total cost to ₦100 million.
For other elective offices, governorship aspirants will pay ₦50 million, while those seeking seats in the Senate, House of Representatives, and State Houses of Assembly will pay ₦20 million, ₦10 million, and ₦6 million respectively.
Screening of aspirants is scheduled to take place between May 6 and May 8, with results to be published on May 11. Appeals arising from the screening exercise will be heard between May 12 and May 13.
According to the timetable, primaries for the House of Representatives will hold on May 18, Senate on May 20, State Assembly on May 21, and governorship primaries on May 23.
In a move to encourage inclusivity, the ADC announced concessions for women, youths, and persons living with disabilities, allowing them to pay only for the expression of interest forms, with a 50 percent discount on nomination fees.
The party emphasized that the timetable aligns with provisions of Nigeria’s Electoral Act and guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), reaffirming its commitment to a transparent and credible primary election process.
