A Lagos-based politician and entrepreneur, Adelaja Adeoye, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 Lagos State governorship election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a letter dated May 2, 2026, and addressed to the Lagos State PDP Chairman, Dr. Amos Fawole, Adeoye said his decision was driven by a “deep and genuine sense of duty” to serve the people of Lagos State.
The governorship hopeful highlighted his cultural and regional connections, noting his Ijebu roots and Awori heritage as a strategic advantage in fostering unity across the state’s diverse communities. He expressed confidence in his ability to bridge divides between Lagos East and Lagos West while promoting inclusive development.
Adeoye outlined his academic and professional background, revealing that he holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of Lagos and a Master’s degree in Property Development and Management from Lead City University, with a doctoral degree in Environmental Management in view. He also cited over two decades of experience across banking, oil and gas, and real estate sectors.
According to him, his entrepreneurial ventures including Fendini Group, Alphabetia Nigeria Limited, and Adwood Communications have created employment opportunities and contributed to economic growth. He added that his contributions earned him recognition among top CEOs by The Guardian in 2023 and accolades from City People Magazine in 2024.
Adeoye also pointed to his political experience within the PDP, including his role at the party’s national convention and his previous bid for the House of Representatives seat in Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II.
Central to his campaign is the “Better Lagos Agenda 2027,” codenamed Atunto Eko 1.0, which he described as a comprehensive plan to reposition Lagos for inclusive growth. The agenda focuses on security, economic development, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and governance reforms.
He pledged to prioritise community policing and technology-driven security, expand job creation through support for small businesses and innovation, and modernise infrastructure to address urban challenges such as flooding and congestion. He also promised improvements in education and healthcare, alongside policies promoting transparency and equitable representation.
“I am convinced that with purposeful leadership and unity of purpose, Lagos can once again become a model of excellence and shared prosperity,” Adeoye stated.
The PDP aspirant called on party leaders and stakeholders, including elder statesman Olabode George, to support his bid, expressing optimism that the party can reclaim Lagos in the 2027 election cycle.
Adeoye concluded by formally requesting the PDP’s nomination, affirming his commitment to delivering what he described as a “Better Lagos” for all residents.
