The sole lawmaker of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. (Dr) Dawood Akanni Olalere, popularly known as D-Al-Ameen, has hailed the Supreme Court judgment affirming the party’s leadership, describing it as a victory for justice and democratic integrity in Nigeria.
Reacting to the ruling delivered on April 30, 2026, Olalere expressed renewed confidence in the Nigerian judiciary, noting that the verdict underscores the ability of the courts to uphold fairness and the rule of law.
In a statement issued shortly after the judgment, the lawmaker representing Ibadan NorthWest State Constituency commended the judiciary for what he described as a bold, impartial, and principled interpretation of the law, adding that the decision has further strengthened public trust in democratic institutions.
“The judiciary has once again demonstrated its capacity to uphold justice and protect the rule of law. Today’s judgment shows that our courts can stand firm, remain independent, and defend the principles of fairness and equity,” he said.
Olalere stressed that Nigeria’s democracy must continue to thrive on inclusiveness and political plurality, warning against any drift toward a one-party system.
“Our democracy must reflect the collective will of the people through inclusiveness, fairness, and strict adherence to due process,” he added.
The lawmaker also reassured party members and Nigerians at large of the ADC’s commitment to people-focused governance, emphasizing that the party remains dedicated to evidence-based policymaking, grassroots development, and institutional strengthening.
He further extended warm congratulations to the reaffirmed national leadership of the party, particularly David Mark on his position as National Chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary, describing their emergence as a stabilizing force for the party.
According to him, the Supreme Court ruling is not only a victory for the ADC but also a significant milestone for Nigeria’s democratic journey.
“This judgment is not just a win for our party; it is a triumph for democracy. It reaffirms that justice can prevail and that our institutions are capable of serving the people effectively,” he stated.
