Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, widely known as Yayi, has stepped up political consultations ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship election, holding strategic meetings with former Senator Iyabo Obasanjo and elder statesman Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Ishola.

The high-level engagements are seen as part of moves by the All Progressives Congress stalwart to consolidate support across major political blocs in the state as momentum builds toward the next governorship contest.

Yayi, who is widely regarded as a leading contender within the APC, reportedly met Iyabo Obasanjo in Abeokuta, where discussions centered on party unity, grassroots mobilisation, and the future direction of Ogun politics.

Sources close to the meeting disclosed that the senator expressed appreciation for Obasanjo’s longstanding contributions to the state’s political development and sought her support in building a broad-based coalition ahead of 2027.

In a separate consultation, Yayi also visited former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Sarafa Ishola, where he was said to have received warm assurances and encouragement regarding his ambition.

Political observers believe the meetings signal Yayi’s determination to secure endorsements from respected leaders and stakeholders across Ogun’s three senatorial districts.

The senator’s growing network of support has continued to generate attention, especially following reports that influential APC figures have identified him as a major consensus option for the state’s top seat.

With consultations intensifying and alignments gradually taking shape, Yayi’s latest outreach is expected to further strengthen his position in what promises to be a keenly contested race for the Ogun governorship in 2027.
