Member of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West Federal Constituency, Hon. Olajide Stanley Odidi-Omo, has declared that the welfare and comfort of the people should remain the foremost responsibility of any leader.
In a press statement issued on April 23, 2026, Odidi-Omo said leadership is fundamentally about service and easing the burdens of the people, noting that his entry into politics was motivated by a desire to make meaningful impact.
According to him, he was personally comfortable before venturing into politics, but chose public service out of commitment to helping others and improving lives.
“People’s comfort should be the joy of any leader,” he stated.
The lawmaker also stressed that preserving and advancing the achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde should be a major priority for whoever succeeds the governor in 2027.
He praised the current administration for the developmental strides recorded across the state, saying such progress must not be abandoned.
Odidiomo highlighted key areas that require continuity, including road infrastructure, healthcare delivery, educational reforms, agricultural development, and the Light-Up Oyo initiative.
He further called for a redesign of grassroots support programmes and human capital development strategies to ensure measurable impact, job creation, and improved competitiveness for residents.
The federal lawmaker said he is prepared to serve the state on a broader platform, adding that Oyo State deserves more purposeful governance backed by experience, capacity, and strong networks.
Speaking on the political climate ahead of the 2027 governorship race, Odidiomo asserted that integrity and performance remain stronger than political godfatherism in Oyo politics.
He maintained that the people of the state are politically conscious and would ultimately support leaders with competence, character, and proven results.
“As we approach 2027, my focus remains on issues, not distractions,” he said.
Odidiomo concluded by urging collective commitment to protecting and expanding the foundations laid by Governor Makinde, irrespective of ethnic, religious, or political differences.
