As a crucial court sitting approaches, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has emphasized the importance of judicial independence and adherence to the rule of law in Nigeria’s democratic process.
In a statement released by Oyo State ADC chairman, Afeez Jimoh OnaAra, described the scheduled court proceedings as a significant moment for democracy and the pursuit of justice in the country.
According to him, the case represents a critical step in ensuring fairness and protecting the rights of all parties involved, noting that Nigerians are closely watching the judiciary as the ultimate guardian of justice and equity.
He stressed that public confidence in the judiciary has been built over time on the expectation that courts will deliver judgments based strictly on truth, justice, and the law, without any form of bias or external interference.
“The judiciary must remain independent and impartial. It should not be compromised or influenced by government or political forces,” he stated, warning that any breach of this trust would undermine public faith in the system.
OnaAra further called on all stakeholders to respect the rule of law and allow the courts to function freely, guided solely by the principles of justice and fairness.
He added that upholding these values remains essential to sustaining national unity, peace, and development.
The ADC chairman also expressed optimism ahead of the court session, voicing confidence in a favorable outcome for the party while urging that truth and justice prevail in the proceedings.
