An Ibadan-born engineer and entrepreneur, Engr. Rasaq Olaide Oyebamiji, has reaffirmed his promise to deliver practical, people-oriented representation as his am for contesting for the Oyo State House of Assembly, representing Ibadan SouthWest State Constituency I.
Oyebamiji, a native of Ibadan SouthWest Local Government Area, said his aspiration is driven by a desire to bring responsive governance closer to the people and to translate his professional experience into tangible development across the constituency.
The Aspirant emphasized that his background in engineering and business management has equipped him with the capacity to address infrastructure deficits, unemployment, and energy challenges.
“My focus is to ensure that governance is not distant from the people. We must prioritize development that directly impacts our communities : roads, jobs, education, and power supply,” he stated.
The aspirant began his academic journey at Christ Gospel Primary School, Gege, before proceeding to Oke-Ado High School, Ibadan. He later obtained his National Diploma from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, and a Higher National Diploma from the Federal College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation (FCA IAR&T). He completed his National Youth Service Corps in 2014.
Oyebamiji’s professional career spans several notable organizations. He worked with Zartech Limited between 2009 and 2010, and later served as a contract staff at Procter & Gamble from 2010 to 2011. He also worked with Techno Peak Engineering Limited as a Safety Officer between 2014 and 2016, before taking up a role as Safety Engineer and Site Supervisor at Peklak Engineering Limited.
In 2019, he established Olaide Brightersite Engineering Limited, an engineering firm specializing in civil, electrical, and mechanical services. The company has been involved in supply operations with major firms such as Flour Mills of Nigeria, Procter & Gamble, Zartech Limited, and Honeywell Group.
Beyond engineering, Oyebamiji is also engaged in the promotion of renewable energy through the sale and installation of solar and inverter systems, a move he said aligns with his vision for sustainable development.
He further disclosed that he holds a safety certification from the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria and has undergone specialized training in solar inverter installation through MPOWER.
Outlining his campaign priorities, Oyebamiji pledged to focus on infrastructure development, youth empowerment, improved education, accessible healthcare, and expanded energy solutions. He also promised to uphold transparency, accountability, and regular engagement with constituents.
His entry into the race adds a technocratic dimension to the contest, as constituents increasingly seek leaders with practical experience and grassroots understanding.
As the 2027 electoral cycle gradually gathers momentum, Oyebamiji’s declaration signals what many expect to be a competitive race for representation in Ibadan SouthWest State Constituency II.
