On April 17, 2026, the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos received in audience a youthful and dynamic gubernatorial aspirant, Prince Adelaja Adeoye, in what can best be described as a significant moment of reflection, engagement, and renewed optimism for the party’s future in the state.

The meeting, which brought together members of the State Working Committee, Non-Working Committee, and the vibrant “Team Laja for Governor,” underscored the PDP’s commitment to internal democracy, inclusiveness, and strategic alignment ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial elections.

Prince Adeoye, in his address, struck a resonant chord with party leaders and stakeholders as he emphasized the urgent need for unity within the party. He articulated a vision anchored on inclusivity, noting that the strength of the PDP lies in its collective resolve and its ability to harmonize diverse interests for the greater good of Lagosians. His message was clear: a united party is not only formidable but also capable of reclaiming its rightful place in the governance of Lagos State.

Central to his presentation was his comprehensive policy document, which he described as a “holistic approach to sustainable development.” The framework, according to him, is designed to address the multifaceted challenges confronting Lagos, ranging from infrastructure deficits to socio-economic inequalities. Of particular interest was his reference to transformative projects such as the Fourth Mainland Bridge, which he positioned as a catalyst for economic expansion, improved mobility, and urban decongestion.

Prince Adeoye further distinguished his candidacy by pledging to do things differently. He assured party leaders of his unwavering commitment to working with the established party structure, respecting institutional processes, and fostering collaboration at all levels. This approach, he noted, would not only strengthen internal cohesion but also enhance the party’s credibility in the eyes of the electorate.

In his response, the Lagos State PDP Chairman, Barr. Dr. Amos Fawole, expressed appreciation to Prince Adeoye for his visit and commended his steadfast dedication to the ideals of the party. He encouraged the aspirant to remain consistent in his contributions toward the growth and unity of the PDP, emphasizing the importance of loyalty, perseverance, and collective responsibility in the party’s journey toward 2027.

Members of the State Executive Committee also offered advice and prayers for the aspirant, wishing him success in his gubernatorial aspirations while reaffirming the party’s openness to constructive engagement and healthy competition among its members.

The engagement was marked by robust interaction, thoughtful contributions, and a shared sense of purpose, reflecting a party that is actively preparing, consulting, and repositioning itself for the future.

As the PDP continues its consultations and internal engagements, the interaction with Prince Adelaja Adeoye stands as a noteworthy step in its journey toward rebuilding confidence, strengthening unity, and presenting a credible, people-oriented alternative in Lagos State politics.
