Ibarapakan Hosts Well-Attended Easter Picnic in Ibarapa Central/North Fed. Constituency

Member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has hosted a well-attended Easter picnic in the constituency.

The event brought together Christians from different denominations across the five communities that make up Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency.

The event, the first of its kind in the constituency, was declared open by the Chairman of the Igangan Christian Association, Apostle Akinwumi Grace.

Preaching at the Easter picnic, Rt. Rev. Dr. Sunday Johnson Funminiyi, JP, Bishop of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Ibarapa Diocese, urged the audience to pray for the longevity of Hon. Adepoju.

According to him, Hon. Adepoju takes after his father, as he reminisced on the good works and enduring legacy of the late Asiwaju of Igbo-Ora, Dr. Chief Amos Ademola Adepoju.

The Bishop also emphasised the human capital development and infrastructural strides of Hon. Adepoju, which he said are visible in all five communities of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Local Government Areas.

He admonished the lawmaker to continue empowering his followers and those around him, noting that this is the path to a successful future. He reiterated that the lawmaker would look back in the future and be glad he made such decisions.

He also prayed for his continued political success and divine blessings in all his endeavours.

In his address, Hon. Adepoju appreciated the Christian community for their prayers and support, describing them as a pillar of strength in his political journey. He emphasised the importance of unity, love and peaceful coexistence among the people, noting that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of harmony. He reaffirmed his commitment to delivering more dividends of democracy to the constituency and urged the people to continue to support his leader and mentor, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde’s vision for growth and progress. The lawmaker noted that exactly one month ago, his Ramadan Lecture/Iftar for Muslim faithful in the constituency was also held. He disclosed that he is making sure that no religious institution is also left behind in his own era as a lawmaker.

As part of his support for the Christian community, Hon. Adepoju donated the sum of one million naira (N1,000,000) to the Christian body in the constituency and also hosted attendees to a sumptuous dinner.

A special prayer for the lawmaker was offered by Pastor Z. O. Ajekiigbe, former Chairman of the Igangan CAN, who sought the blessings of Almighty God upon the life of Hon. Adepoju and prayed that God would always make a way for him in all ramifications.

The Easter picnic also featured a quiz competition, where Oladokun Grace from Idere emerged as the winner, Stephen Opeyemi from Tapa emerged as the first runner-up and Odeyale Mercy from Igbo-Ora emerged as the second runner-up.

In attendance were large numbers of Christians from the constituency, as well as revered pastors such as E. O. Amos, Apostle Grace Akinwumi, Elijah Akingbade, Olanrewaju Olusola, among others.

Also in attendance were Hon. Lateef Adebare Akorede, Executive Chairman of Ibarapa North; Hon. Bisi Akande, Executive Vice Chairman of Ibarapa North; Hon. Olusola Adeleke, represented by Hon. Rasheed Babarinde, Executive Vice Chairman of Ibarapa Central; Hon. Tunde Adegbenjo, who chaired the occasion; Hon. Remi Ayoade; and various political functionaries in the constituency.

Traditional rulers present included the Olu of Igbo-Ora, the Asigangan of Igangan, the Onidere of Idere, the Olu Aso of Iberekodo, the Baba Aso of Iberekodo Igbole, the Onisagaun of Sagaun, the Elempe of Tapa, the Asawo of Ayete and the Onidofin of Idofin, alongside Chief Imams and Alfas in the constituency.
