The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Oyo State chapter, has officially inaugurated its Ward and Local Government Area (LGA) executive committees across all 33 local government councils in the state, in a strategic move aimed at strengthening its grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration exercise, which took place simultaneously at designated centres across Oyo State on Thursday, April 9, 2026, witnessed the swearing-in of newly elected party executives at both ward and LGA levels. The development marks a significant step in the party’s effort to consolidate its presence and enhance internal coordination statewide.
Speaking on the exercise, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Barrister Bimpe Adelowo, described the inauguration as a deliberate effort to reposition the ADC for greater political relevance and operational efficiency. She noted that the move underscores the party’s commitment to building a formidable structure capable of delivering credible leadership to the people.
Among those inaugurated as LGA chairmen are Hon. Idris Sola Lawal (Ibadan South West), Hon. Azeez Adegoke (Atiba), Alhaji Ashiru Soliu Ayinde (Saki West), Alhaji Biliaminu Onifade (Oyo East), Abideen Ibikunle (Ido), Hon. Odeyale Obisesan (Ona-Ara), and Elder Solomon Akindele (Iseyin), among others.
Other notable executives include Musbaudeen Faruq (Iwajowa), Hon. Abosede Zealot (Akinyele), Hon. Ismail Mosobalaje (Ibadan South East), Alhaji Wasiu Oriade (Ibadan North), Hon. Ismail Hossain (Ibadan North West), and Pastor Sunday Oyelakin (Ibadan North East), reflecting a broad-based leadership spread across the state.
Adelowo emphasized that the party remains united under the leadership of the State Chairman, Alhaji Yinka Olona, stressing that the ADC in Oyo State is “one and indivisible.” She warned against any form of parallel congresses or unauthorized structures, insisting that only decisions emanating from the recognized State Executive Council would be upheld.
According to her, the newly inaugurated executives are expected to drive grassroots mobilization, deepen party engagement at the community level, and position the ADC as a viable alternative in the state’s political landscape.
“The party is committed to building a strong and vibrant platform that will offer credible leadership to the people of Oyo State. With this inauguration, we are confident of emerging stronger and more united,” she stated.
The exercise signals the ADC’s early preparations for future electoral contests, with a clear focus on unity, structure, and grassroots consolidation as key pillars of its political strategy.
