The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has called on Christians across the state and Nigeria to embrace the virtues of love and sacrificial living as exemplified by Jesus Christ through His death and resurrection.

He also emphasized the importance of sustained prayers for Nigeria, Oyo State, and the nation’s leadership, especially at this critical time.

Governor Makinde made this call on Saturday in his Easter message, which was signed by his Special Adviser (Media), Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, and made available to journalists. He congratulated Christians on the successful completion of the 40-day Lenten period and the celebration of Easter.

According to the Governor, Easter represents the ultimate expression of God’s love for humanity, demonstrated through the persecution, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He noted that the season teaches selflessness, love, and the importance of making sacrifices for others.

He further explained that throughout Christ’s trials and crucifixion, He interceded for humanity. Governor Makinde urged Christians to adopt this example by continually praying for the nation and its leaders during the Easter season and beyond.

The Governor expressed appreciation to the Christian community for its unwavering support and cooperation with his administration since 2019, encouraging them to remain steadfast as the government continues its efforts to serve the people.

He also advised residents of the state to remain vigilant during and after the festive period, urging them to promptly report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.

Governor Makinde reiterated that security is a collective responsibility and encouraged citizens to make use of the state’s emergency number, 615, when necessary.
