The UK Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Youth Wing vehemently condemns the recent decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to delist the Senator David Mark-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the ADC from its official portal. This action, taken under the guise of complying with a Court of Appeal ruling, represents a clear and dangerous subversion of democratic principles and an assault on the constitutional rights of a legitimate opposition party in Nigeria.
Senator David Mark, a distinguished statesman and former President of the Nigerian Senate, along with his team, assumed leadership of the ADC through a transparent and widely supported process aimed at repositioning the party as a credible alternative for Nigerians yearning for good governance. The delisting of this NWC is not only premature and legally questionable but appears to be a calculated move to weaken and destabilize the fastest-growing opposition force in the country.
We unequivocally condemn President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for what is evidently a shameless orchestration of this witch-hunt. It has become increasingly clear that the Tinubu-led administration, gripped by fear of the ADC’s rising popularity and the growing discontent among Nigerians, has exerted undue influence on INEC to suppress dissenting voices and rig the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections. This is yet another instance of the APC’s desperation to cling to power at all costs, even if it means trampling on the independence of a supposedly autonomous electoral body.
INEC, as an institution established by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has a sacred duty to remain impartial, transparent, and independent. It must not allow itself to be used as a tool for partisan vendetta or executive interference. We strongly urge INEC to immediately rescind this unlawful delisting, restore full recognition to the Senator David Mark-led ADC National Working Committee, and refrain from any further actions that could prejudice ongoing legal matters or undermine the democratic process.
Failure to act swiftly and neutrally will not only erode public confidence in the electoral umpire but will also push our dear nation closer to the brink of anarchy. Nigerians have endured enough hardship under the current regime — escalating insecurity, unprecedented economic collapse, massive unemployment, and widespread hunger. Any attempt to silence opposition parties through administrative fiat will only fuel resentment and instability across the land. Nigeria belongs to its people, not to any individual or political party.
To all members and supporters of the ADC both at home and in the diaspora: remain resolute and undeterred in the face of this provocation. Do not be intimidated by these desperate tactics. History has shown that no amount of repression can extinguish the will of a determined people. The Senator David Mark-led ADC stands as a beacon of hope and a genuine platform for national rescue.
This Tinubu-APC government has proven itself to be the worst administration Nigeria has experienced since independence in 1960. Characterised by monumental failure, policy summersaults, and a blatant disregard for the suffering of ordinary citizens, it has brought nothing but pain and retrogression to our nation.
We therefore call on all ADC members, sympathisers, and well-meaning Nigerians to stay united and focused. The struggle to reclaim our country and restore dignity, prosperity, and security continues in earnest. We are fully prepared and determined to kick out the Tinubu-led government in 2027 through the ballot box.
The UK ADC Youth Wing stands shoulder to shoulder with the Senator David Mark-led National Working Committee and reaffirms our unwavering commitment to the ideals of democracy, justice, and good governance.
