In a strategic move to strengthen grassroots governance and improve service delivery, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government, Alhaji Abdulrahman Olanrewaju Adepoju, has distributed electric bikes to Ward Chairmen across the Local Government Area.
According to the Chairman, the initiative is aimed at enhancing mobility and ensuring effective community engagement, particularly at the ward level where timely interaction with residents remains critical.
Alhaji Adepoju added that the provision of the electric bikes will significantly ease the movement of Ward Chairmen, enabling them to discharge their responsibilities more efficiently and respond promptly to the needs of their constituents.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, the Executive Chairman commended the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, describing the gesture as a practical step towards deepening grassroots administration and fostering closer ties between government and the people. He emphasized that the bikes would serve as vital tools for community mobilization, monitoring and coordination of developmental activities within the wards.
The Chairman further applauded the Governor for his visionary leadership and commitment to grassroots development. He noted that the initiative, which includes the provision of electric bikes to Ward Chairmen and cars to Vice Chairmen and Councilors, demonstrates the Governor’s dedication to empowering local government officials and improving governance at all levels.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Vice Chairman/Political Head of Okebadan North LCDA, Alhaji Ganiyu Abiodun Omotosho, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Ibadan Northwest and Southwest Constituency Matters, Alhaji Ishola Labule, appreciated the gesture of the Governor. They maintained that the support from the State Government would go a long way in boosting the morale of political office holders and enhancing their capacity to effectively deliver on their mandates.
They, however, charged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the bikes for the overall benefit of the grassroots populace.
