The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has congratulated Muslims in the state and across Nigeria on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan, urging them to continue praying for the peace, stability, and progress of both Oyo State and the nation.
In his Eid-el-Fitri message, the governor commended the Muslim faithful for their devotion, sacrifice, and spiritual commitment throughout Ramadan. He noted that the values of patience, self-discipline, and compassion demonstrated during the fasting period should not end with the celebration but should remain a guiding principle in daily life.
Makinde called on Muslims to seize the occasion of Eid-el-Fitri to offer special prayers for leaders at all levels, stressing that divine guidance is essential for effective governance and national development. He emphasized that while governments continue to implement policies aimed at improving the welfare of citizens, sustained prayers and collective support from the people are crucial in overcoming challenges facing the state and the country.
The governor also reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering good governance and enhancing socio-economic development in Oyo State. He assured residents that his government would continue to prioritize people-oriented policies that promote growth, peace, and prosperity.
While wishing Muslims a joyous Eid-el-Fitri celebration, Makinde urged residents to remain vigilant and security-conscious during and after the festivities. He encouraged citizens to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities, underscoring the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining peace and order.
He concluded by praying that Allah accepts the sacrifices and عبادات (acts of worship) of the Muslim Ummah and grants the state and the nation enduring peace and progress.
