The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially released the timetable for its 2026 nationwide congresses covering ward, local government, and state levels, culminating in the party’s National Convention.
The announcement, issued by the party’s National Headquarters in Abuja, outlines a comprehensive schedule of activities that will guide internal democratic processes within the party ahead of the national convention.
According to the statement signed by the National Organising Secretary, Prince Chinedu Idigo, and the National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, members interested in contesting for positions at the ward, local government, and state levels are encouraged to obtain, complete, and submit the relevant nomination or expression of interest forms within the stipulated timeframe.
The timetable indicates that the purchase and submission of forms for aspirants seeking positions at the ward, local government, and state levels will take place between March 14 and March 20, 2026.
This will be followed by the inauguration of committees responsible for supervising the ward, local government, and state congresses on March 26, 2026, while the screening of aspirants is scheduled to hold from March 27 to March 30, 2026.
As part of the congress process, Polling Unit and Ward Congresses will be conducted on April 7, 2026, with appeals from the exercises slated for April 8, 2026.
The Local Government Area (LGA) Congresses will hold on April 9, 2026, followed by appeals on April 10, 2026. Subsequently, State Congresses are scheduled for April 11, 2026, while appeals arising from the state congresses will be addressed on April 13, 2026.
The process will climax with the ADC National Convention on April 14, 2026, where key leadership decisions and party structures are expected to be finalized.
The party leadership urged members across the country to actively participate in the process and ensure that all activities are conducted peacefully and in line with the party’s constitution.
