The Legislative House of Ibadan North-West Local Government in Oyo State has suspended the Councillor representing Ward 7, Hon. Ridwan Ogun, following allegations of gross misconduct, negligence of legislative duties, and an alleged unresponsive attitude toward grassroots development.
The decision was taken by the legislative arm of the council after deliberations on a petition submitted against the councillor. The petition reportedly accused Hon. Ogun of failing to effectively represent the interests of his constituents and neglecting responsibilities expected of him as a member of the local government legislature.
The suspension was carried out under the leadership of the Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Oluwagbemileke Gbadamosi Nelson O’leke, who represents Ward 9 in the Ibadan North-West Local Government Legislative Council.
Sources within the council revealed that the lawmakers carefully reviewed the allegations before reaching a resolution to suspend the Ward 7 councillor pending further legislative actions.
As of the time of filing this report, the necessary memo documenting the decision of the House has been formally forwarded to the appropriate authorities for further administrative procedures.
