The Vice Chairman and Chairmanship aspirant of Ido Local Government, Hon. Barr. Olayemi Ajibola Oluwasina, has joined millions around the world to celebrate women in Ido Local Government in commemoration of the 2026 International Women’s Day (IWD), praising their resilience, sacrifices, and invaluable contributions to family, community, and national development.
In a statement made available to journalists on Monday, Barr. Oluwasina described women as the backbone of society whose unwavering dedication continues to shape homes, communities, and institutions across Ido Local Government and beyond.
He noted that women play critical roles in nurturing families, building strong communities, and sustaining economic and social development, emphasizing that their contributions often go beyond recognition.
“Today, as we commemorate International Women’s Day, I celebrate the strength, courage, and sacrifices of women across Ido Local Government. Our mothers, wives, daughters, and sisters remain pillars of support and agents of transformation in our society,” he said.
Barr. Oluwasina further acknowledged the numerous challenges women face in society but commended their determination and resilience in overcoming barriers while continuing to contribute meaningfully to societal progress.
The Ido LG Vice Chairman also reaffirmed his commitment to policies and initiatives that promote women empowerment, gender inclusion, and equal opportunities for women, particularly at the grassroots level.
According to him, sustainable development in any society cannot be achieved without the active participation and recognition of women.
“As a government and as leaders, we must continue to create enabling environments that allow women to thrive, lead, and contribute their best to society. Their voices must be heard, their talents nurtured, and their contributions fully appreciated,” he added.
Barr. Oluwasina used the occasion to encourage women in Ido Local Government to continue playing their vital roles in community development while also striving for greater participation in leadership and decision-making processes.
