The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State has officially launched a statewide membership revalidation, mobilisation, and registration programme aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots structure ahead of future political activities.
The unveiling ceremony, held at the Press Centre in Ibadan, brought together party leaders, stakeholders, and members who described the initiative as a significant step toward expanding the ADC’s presence across the state.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Membership Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration (MRMR) Committee, Chief Bisi Ilaka, said the exercise was designed to deepen participation in the party and give citizens across the state an opportunity to be part of the ADC’s movement for democratic change.
Ilaka explained that Oyo State comprises 351 wards spread across 33 local government areas and about 6,389 polling units, noting that the registration exercise would cover all these administrative structures to ensure no supporter of the party is left out.
According to him, membership of the ADC represents more than possession of a membership card but a commitment to the party’s ideals of progress, accountability, and participatory governance.
“We are using this programme to reconnect with our existing members while welcoming new supporters into the party. Every registration strengthens our structure and amplifies the voice of the people in the democratic process,” he said.
He urged party members to return to their wards and local government areas to complete their registration, while also encouraging citizens to take advantage of the ongoing digital registration platform scheduled to end on Sunday.
The committee chairman also commended the national leadership of the party, including the National Chairman, David Mark, and the National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, for providing what he described as visionary leadership and strategic direction for the party.
Ilaka disclosed that the membership exercise would be coordinated by an 11-member committee representing the three senatorial districts of the state. Members from Oyo South include Adekola Adeoye, Alhaji Suleiman Oyediran and Alhaja Aminat Badmos; while Hon. Raji Musediq, Hon. Azeez Akinkunmi Saheed and Ogunbunmi Bukola represent Oyo Central. From Oyo North are Nasiru Ibrahim, Tijani Isiaka Adebowale and Adeyemo Adesina.
He further explained that three members would also be appointed in each local government area and ward to ensure effective grassroots mobilisation and comprehensive registration across the state.
Calling on residents of Oyo State to support the party, Ilaka said the ADC remains committed to building an inclusive political movement capable of delivering good governance and improved welfare for the people.
He described the unveiling as a call to action for party members and supporters to work collectively in strengthening the ADC’s structures across all wards and polling units in the state.
According to him, the initiative will position the party for greater political success and ensure it remains a strong force in the state’s democratic process as preparations gradually build toward the 2027 general elections.
