As the Globe marks International Women’s Day, Oluwatobi John Ogunbayo, aspirant for the House of Representatives seat representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency, has called for stronger political inclusion of women, urging them to play active roles in governance and decision-making.
In a statement released on Sunday, Ogunbayo stressed that the celebration of International Women’s Day is not only about acknowledging women’s achievements but also about promoting their full participation in political processes at the grassroots and national levels.

“Women are critical to the political and economic development of our nation. In Ibadan North-West and South-West, their voices must be heard, and their contributions recognised,” he said.
Ogunbayo, who is campaigning ahead of the 2027 general elections, emphasized that empowering women politically is essential for inclusive leadership and sustainable governance.
Ogunbayo highlighted that women in the constituency have historically been strong pillars in community development, entrepreneurship, and social mobilisation, yet they remain underrepresented in political offices.
