A member of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Ibadan North-West State Constituency, Aare (Hon) Dr Dawood Akanni Olalere, popularly known as D-Al-Ameen who is an aspirant for Federal House of Representatives (Ibadan NorthWest/SouthWest Federal Constituency of the ADC has emphasized the vital role women play in the growth and stability of society as the world celebrates the 2026 International Women’s Day.
In a statement marking the global celebration, the lawmaker described women as indispensable pillars in families, communities, and the broader society, noting that their contributions remain central to sustainable development in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
Speaking on the theme of this year’s celebration, “Give to Gain,” D-Al-Ameen said the message highlights the importance of investing in women through empowerment, education, and equal opportunities.
According to him, societies that prioritize the welfare and advancement of women inevitably experience greater growth and stability.
“Our women are important to the progress of our communities. When we give women opportunities, empower them economically, and support their aspirations, the entire society gains from their strength, dedication, and resilience,” he said.
The medical laboratory scientist also noted that over the years he has consistently identified with the global advocacy of HeForShe, stressing that supporting women’s progress has always been part of his personal philosophy and public service.
“Over the years, I have remained a strong ‘He for She’ advocate, supporting initiatives that uplift women and ensure they have access to opportunities that will help them thrive,” he added.
D-Al-Ameen used the occasion to celebrate his wives for their unwavering support, encouragement, and understanding throughout his personal and political journey.
He noted that their strength, patience, and counsel have continued to play a significant role in sustaining his dedication to public service.
The philanthropist also applauded members of his women support group, the SoroSoke Ladies, describing them as committed grassroots mobilizers who have contributed immensely to community engagement and political activities within Ibadan North-West.
According to him, the SoroSoke Ladies have remained active in promoting initiatives that empower women, support community development, and encourage civic participation among residents.
He further reiterated his commitment to programmes that support women entrepreneurs, traders, and small-scale business owners, many of whom have benefited from empowerment initiatives within the constituency.
“Women remain the backbone of many homes and businesses in our communities. Supporting them is not only a moral responsibility but also a strategic investment in the future of our society,” he said.
While congratulating women across Ibadan North-West, Ibadan South-West, and the entire Oyo State, D-Al-Ameen urged them to remain resilient and continue contributing positively to the development of their communities.
