The Frontline Aspirant of the APC for Ibadan Southwest/NorthWest, Amb. Oluwatobi Ogunbayo has taken a leading role in advancing efforts to strengthen grassroots sports development in Nigeria following a strategic engagement with the Presidency as the Chairman of the Planning Committee for the highly anticipated Naija5Fest.
In a significant move aimed at transforming community-based sports across the country, the leadership of the Naija5Fest project recently held a high-level meeting with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development in Abuja.
The meeting, which signals growing institutional support for the initiative, focused on aligning the objectives of Naija5Fest with the federal government’s broader agenda of youth empowerment, talent discovery, and sports development at the grassroots level.
The Naija5Fest delegation was led by the Convener, Mr. Patrick OSEK, alongside the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Amb. Oluwatobi Ogunbayo, and the Director of Strategy, Hon. Emmanuel Udomoh. The team was received by Hon. Anthony Adeboye Adeyinka, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development.
Deliberations during the meeting centered on creating sustainable platforms for identifying emerging talents, fostering national unity through sports and culture, and positioning Naija5Fest as a strategic driver of grassroots sporting excellence across Nigeria.
Speaking after the engagement, Amb. Oluwatobi Ogunbayo expressed optimism about the outcome of the meeting, describing the collaboration with the Presidency as a major boost for the project.
“This engagement with the Presidency demonstrates the growing recognition of the importance of grassroots sports development. With the support of Hon. Anthony Adeboye Adeyinka, we are confident that Naija5Fest will redefine how we discover and nurture sporting talents within our local communities,” Ogunbayo stated.
In his remarks, Hon. Anthony Adeboye Adeyinka commended the organizers of Naija5Fest for their vision and proactive efforts in promoting sports development at the community level. He assured the team of his office’s readiness to collaborate and support initiatives that would positively impact Nigerian youth through sports.
Also speaking, the Convener of Naija5Fest, Mr. Patrick OSEK, reaffirmed the festival’s commitment to authenticity and meaningful grassroots engagement, while Hon. Emmanuel Udomoh, Director of Strategy, emphasized that the alignment with government structures would enhance the festival’s planning and nationwide reach.
The Naija5Fest team is expected to unveil more details about the forthcoming sports festival in the coming weeks, promising an exciting blend of sports, culture, and entertainment designed to spotlight Nigeria’s immense grassroots talent.
