The Oyo State Government has officially inaugurated Mrs. Abdulahi Oluwatoyin as the Commandant of the Ibadan South West Vigilante Corps in a move aimed at strengthening grassroots security across the state.

The inauguration, held on July 7, 2025, took place at the Local Government Hall, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, under the supervision of the Oyo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, led by the Commissioner, Toyin Balogun.

While administering the oath of office and swearing in the committee members at the Local Government Staff Training Centre, Secretariat, Ibadan, Mrs. Balogun stated that the inauguration became necessary to enhance grassroots security and foster a more coordinated community-based security structure across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State.

She emphasized that true security extends beyond patrols and checkpoints, stressing the need for officers to build trust within their communities and address the root causes of social unrest.

In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Abdulahi Oluwatoyin expressed profound appreciation to Governor Makinde and the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion for finding her worthy of the appointment.

She described her emergence as Commandant as a call to greater responsibility and pledged to justify the confidence reposed in her.

Mrs. Oluwatoyin vowed to lead with integrity, discipline, and fairness, assuring residents of Ibadan South West of her commitment to strengthening community-based security, fostering collaboration with relevant stakeholders, and ensuring that peace and safety remain paramount in the local government area.
