The Oyo State Director of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), Mr. Bolaji Amao has affirmed that civil and public servants can now conveniently print the Code of Conduct asset declaration form online, unlike in the past when the forms were only obtainable at the Bureau’s office.
He made this clarification during a sensitization and enlightenment programme on the Code of Conduct organized for staff of Ibadan Northwest Local Government and Oke-Ibadan North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), held at the Council Secretariat, Onireke.
According to the Director, the online printing of the form is part of ongoing reforms introduced by the agency to make the process easier and more accessible for civil servants at any time without delay or administrative bottlenecks. He noted that several modifications have also been made to the form to enhance transparency and accountability in individual assets declaration.
Mr. Amao maintained that any property not declared by a public office holder would be presumed to have been acquired through proceeds of illegal activities.
He emphasized the importance of asset declaration, stressing that it is compulsory for all civil servants to declare their assets, including properties held in trust and funds in personal accounts.
He said “The property you fail to declare will be assumed to have been acquired by the proceeds of illegal activities. It is mandatory for all civil servants to declare all their assets, as failure to do so can put an individual into serious trouble,”
The Director further explained that the 21-page asset declaration form is compulsory and must be duly completed, describing the Code of Conduct Bureau as a monitoring body established to ensure accountability among public officers.
A member of the Bureau’s team, Mrs. Ayeni, gave a detailed explanation on how to properly complete the form, adding that it must be signed at any State or Federal High Court and submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau within 30 days of completion.
In her remarks, the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA), Ibadan Northwest Local Government, Mrs. Lara Ladepo, appreciated the Bureau for organizing the sensitization programme and enlightening staff on the new procedures for completing the Code of Conduct form. She urged all staff to submit their completed forms promptly to avoid sanctions.
Dignitaries present at the program included the Acting HLGA of Oke-Ibadan North LCDA, Mrs. Folasade Kumuyi, Heads of Departments, Deputy Directors, Heads of Units, NULGE executives, and staff members from Ibadan Northwest Local Government and Oke-Ibadan North LCDA.
