The Eleruwa of Eruwa, His Royal Majesty Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola Ajobo Olurin I, has extended warm felicitations to Muslims and Christians across Oyo State and beyond on the commencement of Ramadan and the Lenten season.

In a goodwill message released on Wednesday, the monarch, who also serves as Deputy Chairman I of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, described the twin sacred periods as divinely ordained seasons of reflection, sacrifice, repentance, and spiritual renewal.

According to the royal father, both Ramadan and Lent call humanity to embrace higher virtues, urging discipline over indulgence, compassion over indifference, charity over selfishness, and peace over discord.

He noted that Ramadan represents a noble month of fasting, devotion, and total submission to the will of Allah, fostering self-restraint and deepened consciousness of divine accountability among the Muslim faithful. In the same vein, he explained that the Lenten season ushers Christians into a sacred journey of prayer, fasting, and penitence in solemn preparation for the celebration of Easter.

The monarch emphasized that although Ramadan and Lent are distinct in religious tradition, they are united in moral essence, as both seasons elevate the soul, strengthen faith, and reaffirm the supremacy of righteousness.

He urged adherents of both faiths to approach the sacred observances not merely as ritual obligations, but as transformative encounters capable of purifying hearts, healing divisions, and strengthening communal harmony within Oyo State.

The Eleruwa further called for renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and collective progress, stressing that unity remains indispensable to the continued growth and prosperity of the state.

He concluded with prayers that the Almighty would accept the fasts, prayers, and supplications of all faithful, and grant communities enduring peace, unity, and prosperity.
