Hon. (Dr.) Dawood Akanni Olalere, popularly known as D-Al-Ameen, has officially become the first serving lawmaker in Oyo State to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The member representing Ibadan North West State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly was formally received into the party at St Patrick’s School Abebi area of Ibadan NorthWest in a colourful event that attracted a large crowd of supporters, political associates, and admirers.
The reception witnessed significant participation from members of the SoroSoke group, whose presence added energy and vibrancy to the gathering. Chants, solidarity songs, and banners filled the venue as supporters welcomed the lawmaker into his new political platform.
D-Al-Ameen’s defection follows his recent resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), where he cited lingering and unresolved internal divisions as the reason for his decision to leave.
Party leaders of the ADC described his entry as historic, noting that his defection gives the party its first legislative representation in the current Oyo State House of Assembly. They expressed optimism that his grassroots appeal and legislative experience would further strengthen the party’s structure across Ibadan North West and beyond.
Addressing the crowd, D-Al-Ameen appreciated his supporters for their unwavering loyalty, stating that his move was driven by conviction, principle, and a commitment to better representation for his constituents.
