Oyo Assembly Member Declares 2027 House of Representatives Ambition

The lawmaker representing Ibadan North-West State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Aare Hon. (Dr) Dawood Olalere, popularly known as D-Al-Ameen, has declared his intention to contest the Ibadan North-West/South-West Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.

The declaration was made on January 26, 2026 during his birthday celebration, which featured a large-scale empowerment programme for residents of his constituency.

As part of the event, Hon. Olalere empowered 16 market associations with cash support and solar-powered lights, while over 150 beneficiaries across the constituency received financial assistance ranging from ₦20,000 to ₦100,000 to boost their economic activities.

Beneficiaries included members of the Community Development Council (CDC), Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ibadan North-West Muslim Community, League of Imams and Alfas, artisans, PROTAAN members, market groups, political party members, and residents from various communities within the constituency.

In addition to the financial support, the lawmaker announced the installation of solar-powered street lights across all wards in Ibadan North-West, describing the initiative as part of his ongoing efforts to improve security and promote community development.

Speaking at the well-attended event, Hon. Olalere reaffirmed his commitment to people-centred leadership.

> “Leadership is not about position; it is about service. It is not about personal gain, but about collective progress. Every achievement recorded so far shows that when leadership is anchored on sincerity and compassion, development becomes inevitable,” he said.



He further pledged to continue empowering residents, illuminating communities, and strengthening hope across the constituency.

The celebration attracted prominent personalities, including Alhaji Chief Nureni Akanbi, Alhaja Abosede Adedibu, former Ibadan South-West Chairman Hon. Tajudeen Abass Aleshinloye, Dr. Remi Ayodele, Hon. Abiola Ayorinde, Hon. Tajudeen Banker, Alhaji Taofeek Olarenwaju (OLYD), Hon. Wale Afolabi, Hon. Demola Adeleke, Hon. Akeem Obadara, Hon. Kazeem Fantola, Hon. Labule Ishola, Alhaji Azeez Abdulfatai, Alhaji Kunle Folarin Baale, Alhaja Olabisi Folarin, Alhaji Badmus, Alhaji Raimi Toheeb Olawale Mogaji Olukolo, Chief Aliu Okunola Mogaji Olukola Oganla, PDP leaders, Ibadan North-West PDP executives, religious leaders, market leaders, artisans’ groups, PROTAAN members, and other party faithful.

In his closing prayer, Hon. Olalere said, “May Almighty Allah bless our constituencies, bless Oyo State, bless our leaders, and bless every home.”

The highlight of the event was his formal declaration to seek election into the House of Representatives, with a pledge to extend his record of grassroots-focused representation to the national level.
