Egbeda Councillors Host New Year Prayer, Seek Divine Guidance for Makinde & Sanda

The councillors of Egbeda Local Government Area of Oyo State have hosted a special prayer session for the New Year 2026 to commit the affairs of the state, the local government, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and residents of various communities into the hands of God on Thursday, January 15.

In a statement made available to 9ja News 24/7, the councillors said the prayer gathering was organized to seek divine guidance, peace, unity, and progress for Oyo State and Egbeda Local Government in the new year. They also offered special prayers for the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and the Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Sikiru Sanda, asking God to grant them wisdom, strength, and good health in the discharge of their duties.

The councillors used the opportunity to express their heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Sikiru Sanda for his immense support to the Egbeda Legislative Council throughout the year 2025. They described his leadership style as inclusive and supportive, noting that his cooperation, encouragement, and constant backing greatly contributed to the smooth operations and effectiveness of the legislature. They commended him for fostering a harmonious relationship between the executive and legislative arms of the local government.

They further explained that the New Year prayer was not only a spiritual exercise but also a symbol of their commitment to people-oriented governance, unity of purpose, and continued support for the PDP at both the local and state levels. According to them, strong leadership, backed by prayers and collective responsibility, remains key to sustainable development and peaceful coexistence.

Prayers were also offered for the growth, stability, and success of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Egbeda Local Government and Oyo State, as well as for residents of various communities, seeking divine protection, prosperity, and harmony throughout the year.

The prayer session was jointly led by Pastor Saheed Adedokun and Imam Maroof Kolawole, reflecting the spirit of religious harmony and unity in Egbeda Local Government. Both clerics prayed for peace, progress, and continued development in Egbeda, Oyo State, and Nigeria at large.

The councillors reaffirmed their loyalty to the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde and Hon. Sikiru Sanda, pledging continued cooperation and dedication to policies and programs that would enhance development at the grassroots level.

They also called on residents of Egbeda Local Government to remain prayerful, supportive, and united, expressing optimism that the New Year would usher in more progress, improved welfare, and lasting peace for Egbeda Local Government and Oyo State at large.
