The Supervisory Councillor for Works in Ibadan North-West Local Government, Hon. (Chief) Akindipe Hammed Abiodun Akinsunbo [MPA], has showered encomiums on the Executive Chairman of the council, Alhaji Rahman Olanrewaju Adepoju, over the successful hosting of a massive grassroots empowerment programme that has further consolidated the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) strength in Oyo State.

Hon. Akindipe gave the commendation while reacting to the large-scale empowerment exercise held at the council, which attracted residents from across the wards, alongside top government officials, party leaders, traditional rulers and other critical stakeholders.

Describing the programme as a clear demonstration of responsive and people-oriented governance, the Supervisory Councillor noted that Alhaji Adepoju has continued to set a high standard in grassroots development through prudent management of resources and impactful initiatives that directly touch the lives of the people.

“The commissioning and empowerment programme is a reflection of the Executive Chairman’s deep commitment to the welfare of our people and council. Alhaji Rahman Adepoju has once again shown uncommon leadership by mobilising resources to empower our residents and strengthen confidence in governance,” Hon. Akindipe stated.

He particularly referenced the remarks of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Ijaya, who publicly commended the chairman’s financial prudence and capacity to deliver meaningful empowerment programmes, describing it as a testament to transparent and accountable leadership.

Hon. Akindipe also applauded the presence of key dignitaries at the event, including the Deputy Chairman of the PDP in Oyo State, Hon. Wasiu Adeleke; Chairman, Local Government Pension Scheme, Hon. Ige Akeem; immediate past Chairman of the Local Government Commission, Hon. Aderemi Ayodele; the Personal Assistant to the Governor, Alhaji Akeem Azeez; and other political leaders, noting that their attendance further affirmed the importance of the programme and the confidence reposed in the Ibadan North-West administration.

Commending the renovation and commissioning of the council hall to international standards, the Supervisory Councillor described the gesture as symbolic of continuity in governance and respect for legacies, stressing that infrastructure development remains a key pillar of the current administration.

He also appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde for his inclusive governance style and consistent support for local governments, which, according to him, has created an enabling environment for councils to deliver dividends of democracy at the grassroots.

Hon. Akindipe congratulated beneficiaries of the empowerment programme and urged them to make judicious use of the grants and materials received, while calling on residents to continue supporting the PDP-led administration at both the state and local government levels.

“The success of this programme once again proves that the PDP is firmly rooted among the people. With leaders like Alhaji Rahman Adepoju, Ibadan NorthWest will continue to witness sustainable development and inclusive growth,” he concluded.
