Oyo State lawmaker representing Ibadan North-West State Constituency, Hon. Dr. Dawood Akanni Olalere, has dedicated his latest academic and leadership achievement to the people of his constituency, while expressing profound appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde and the Oyo State House of Assembly for their support and enabling environment.
Hon. Olalere disclosed that he has been certified by the Graduate School of Political Management at The George Washington University, USA, after successfully participating in the 2025 United States Legislative Leadership Retreat Programme. The retreat, according to him, was an intensive capacity-building programme designed to deepen the understanding of modern democratic governance and effective legislative practice.
The lawmaker explained that the programme featured rigorous sessions on key governance areas including politics and public policy, congressional committees, legislative politics, congressional oversight processes, executive-legislative relations, and the role of the courts. He noted that the exposure provided practical insights into institutional checks and balances, policy formulation, and legislative oversight mechanisms.
Describing the certification as a significant boost to his legislative competence, Hon. Olalere stated that the knowledge and global best practices gained would be deployed to enhance lawmaking, constituency representation, and public service delivery in Oyo State. He emphasized that continuous learning remains critical to responsive and people-oriented governance.
While dedicating the achievement to the people of Ibadan NorthWest State Constituency, the lawmaker reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to quality representation, effective advocacy, and sustainable development. He also appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde, the speaker and his colleagues in the Oyo State House of Assembly for their encouragement and collective pursuit of good governance.
“I remain fully committed to serving with dedication, growth, and excellence,” Hon. Olalere added, assuring constituents of a renewed drive to translate global legislative experience into local development impact.
