The Jericho Businessmen Club (JBC) Ibadan on Friday, November 21, 2025, convened some of Nigeria’s most influential policymakers, innovators, and industry leaders for its 3rd Annual Socio-Economic Summit, held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan. Themed “Future-Ready Oyo State: Tech, Talent and Transformation for a Thriving Tomorrow,” the summit brought together stakeholders committed to shaping a technologically driven and talent-powered future for Oyo State.
The event featured an impressive lineup of Special Guests of Honour, including HE Engr. Seyi Makinde, Executive Governor of Oyo State represented by Adebayo Akande Jnr; SSA on ICT / Digital Economy to the Governor, Dr. Bosun Tijani, Honourable Minister of Communication and Digital Economy; and His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja ARUSA I, the Olubadan-designate of Ibadanland. They commended JBC for fostering a strategic platform that aligns with national and sub-national development goals, particularly in digital transformation and youth empowerment.
Delivering the keynote, Lanre Bamisebi, Executive Director, IT & Digitalization, Access Holdings Plc, and Mitchell Elegbe, Founder and Group Managing Director of Interswitch, underscored the urgent need for public-private synergy to accelerate tech innovation, digital infrastructure, and capacity building. Their addresses highlighted how Oyo State can leverage emerging technologies to improve governance, expand economic opportunities, and support a growing population of young innovators.
A vibrant panel session further enriched the summit, featuring thought leaders across technology, employment, fintech, and academia. Panelists included DeRemi Atanda, Managing Director, Remita; Prof. Bolanle Oladejo, Head of Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence, University of Ibadan; Babatunde Olaifa, Country Head (Nigeria), GoMyCode; Feyisayo Alayande, Executive Secretary, Lagos State Employment Trust Fund; and Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji, Director General/CEO, National Board for Technology Incubation. Their discussions explored practical pathways for developing the state’s talent pipeline, supporting startups, strengthening digital literacy, and positioning Oyo State as a leading technology hub.
