The Oyo State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) on Friday, November 14, 2025, held its Leadership Forum of the Youth and Award of Fellowship in commemoration of the 2025 African and National Youth Day Celebration.
The event, themed “From Aspiration to Action: Youth as Agents of Reparative Justice and Sustainable Development,” brought together youth leaders, policy makers, development advocates, and stakeholders to chart a progressive course for youth involvement in governance, justice and nation-building.
Held at the House of Chiefs, Oyo State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, the forum provided a platform for robust conversations on repositioning Nigerian youth as catalysts and agents for equity, justice, and sustainable development.
Two distinguished personalities — Hon. Seun Olufade, Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, and Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle Don, Federal House of Representatives Member representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency — were decorated as Fellows of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in recognition of their outstanding contributions to youth development, community service, leadership excellence and their commitment to sustainable development In Oyo State.
Guest Speaker, Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, Chairman, Oyo State Agency for Youth Development after giving a good will message in person later delivered an insightful address on youth empowerment and the need for practical engagement in governance. The Agency Chairman was ably represented by the Coordinating Director of the Agency, who reiterated the government’s commitment to building youth capacity and creating platforms for innovation, leadership, and Sustainable development.
The Chairman of NYCN Oyo State, Comrade Eniola Oluwatimilehin Alex, commended the new Fellows of the Umbrella Body of Youth Organizations in the state for their unwavering support for youth-oriented initiatives, he charged them to do more most especially while they’re still occupying political Office, he then charge young people to move beyond aspirations and begin to take decisive action that promotes justice, equity, and Sustainable Development.
He emphasized that the 2025 African Youth Day Celebration serves as a reminder that young people remain a pivotal tool in shaping the continent’s future and must be empowered to rise to the occasion, as they should be Agents of Reparative Justice & Sustainable Development indeed.
The event ended with presentations, networking, and renewed pledges to continue fostering youth leadership and collaboration across Oyo State.
