

Residents of Ibadan Northwest Local Government and Oyo State at large have been assured that the present administration under the leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde, is committed to sustainable development and not out to inconvenience anyone, but rather to bring visible transformation that benefits all.
This assurance was given by the Executive Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government, Alhaji AbdulRahman Olanrewaju Adepoju,during the official presentation of compensation cheques to affected shop owners of the recently demolished Onireke Shopping Complex.
According to the Chairman, the payment was in fulfilment of the Council’s promise to compensate shop owners whose businesses were affected by the demolition. While acknowledging that no amount can fully compensate for the loss incurred, the Council Boss assured that plans are in place to prioritise affected shop owners in the allocation of new shops once reconstruction is complete.


Alh Adepoju emphasized that the ongoing redevelopment is not an act of witch-hunt or favoritism, but a move geared towards modernising infrastructure within the local government. He maintained that the new shopping complex, being rebuilt in partnership with a private developer, will feature modern toilets,potable water,regular power supply and a secure and conducive environment for business
Alhaji Adepoju further clarified that the selection process for compensation was fair and transparent, as all qualified shop owners who met the clearance requirements were duly considered. He affirmed that 104 shop owners have benefited in the first phase of the compensation.
In his vote of thanks on behalf of other beneficiaries, Pastor Abolaji expressed deep appreciation to the Executive Chairman and his cabinet for fulfilling their promise. He noted that the current administration has proven its commitment to the welfare of the people by taking bold steps to put smiles on their faces.


The Presentation which was held at the Council secretariat Onireke, had in attendance the Chief of staff, Head of Local Government Administration(HLGA), Director of Finance and Supplies and the Head of Estate/survey Unit.
Others were the internal Auditor and the Local Government cashiers.
