National Youth Council of Nigeria, Oyo State Chapter had issued a stern warning Against October 20 PLANNED Nation-wide protest in Ibadan and Oyo State at Large. The warning came ahead of a planned protest scheduled for Monday, October 20, 2025, advocating for the release of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu.
The National Youth Council of Nigeria, Oyo State Chapter (NYCN – OYO) has advised Nigerian youths to refrain from joining the planned nationwide protest scheduled for October 20, 2025, citing security concerns and a court order restraining the demonstration.
In a statement signed by its State Chairman, Comrade Eniola Alex, the Council noted that the Federal Government, through the Nigeria Police Force, had obtained an order from the Federal High Court, Abuja, prohibiting the organizers and participants from holding the protest.
NYCN-OYO also referenced a security advisory issued by the United States Embassy in Abuja, which warned its citizens to avoid potential protest areas—an indication, the Council said, of possible security risks.
“In light of this, we urge Oyo State youths to exercise restraint and go about their Daily Jobs and Enterprises peacefully. The planned protest could lead to a breakdown of law and order, putting lives and property at risk,” the statement read in part.
Alex called on Oyo State Youths to prioritize peace, stability, State and national unity, and to channel their grievances through lawful and constructive means.
“We implore Oyo State youths that might have been lured through any means to participate in the planned protest to seek peaceful and legal avenues to express their concerns. Our collective focus should be on maintaining unity and safeguarding our state and Nation at Large,” he added.
NYCN – Oyo reaffirmed its commitment to youth welfare, peace, and State development, urging cooperation to ensure Oyo State remains stable and secure as the Government focuses on Agendas that are Sustainable.
“ As Youths, It is our shared responsibility to protect and preserve OYO STATE” the statement concluded.
