A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro, popularly known as Bibire, has congratulated Honourable Kazeem Fantola on his emergence as the new chairman of the PDP in Ibadan Northwest Local Government.
Bibire, in a statement he personally signed and released to Polity Reporters, said the emergence of Honourable Fantola at the just concluded local government congress shows the high regard he enjoys across the party and the local government for his integrity, experience and leadership capacity.
He said, “I heartily congratulate my friend and brother, Honourable Kazeem Fantola, on becoming the chairman of our party in Ibadan Northwest from the just concluded congress of our great party.
“The truth is that his emergence confirms the strong regard he commands in the party and in all the eleven wards of the local government because of his integrity, experience and capacity to lead.
“I truly believe he is the right person to lead the affairs of our great party at this important stage.”
He added, “I must also say that his record as a political leader and seasoned administrator proves that our party has made the right choice by entrusting him with this leadership position.”
The retired United States Navy veteran also congratulated other newly elected executive members of the party on their success.
He encouraged them to live above board, work hard to fulfill their duties and meet the high expectations of PDP members both within and outside Ibadan Northwest Local Government.
His words, “I therefore want to encourage him and the newly elected executives to live above board, give their very best in carrying out their responsibilities and meet the expectations of our members within and outside Ibadan Northwest.”
He noted that the emergence of Honourable Fantola and his team from a peaceful and transparent local government congress has stirred envy among the APC and sent jitters through their ranks.
According to him, this is natural given the strong standing of the PDP in the local government and in the politics of Nigeria, as well as the warm place it holds in the hearts of the people of Oyo State since the beginning of the unexampled people-centered administration of Governor Seyi Makinde.
“The peaceful and transparent way Honourable Fantola and his team emerged has unsettled our rivals in the APC and made them uneasy.
“That is only natural and indeed unexpected because of the strength of the PDP in this local government, in Oyo State and in Nigeria, as well as the trust and love the people have continued to show the party due to the unprecedented people-focused leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde over the past six years,” he noted.
Bibire also praised all the aspirants whose sacrifices, cooperation and love for the party made the success of the local government congress possible and said history will remember their efforts.
He said, “I deeply appreciate all the aspirants whose sacrifices, cooperation and love for the party made the success of this congress possible. History will not forget their efforts.”
He also thanked Governor Seyi Makinde and other leaders of the party for the wise guidance and outstanding leadership that ensured the success of the congress.
