The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has declared Ibadan NorthWest Local Government as the most organised during the party’s 2025 congress, which was held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Oke’Badan LCDA Council, Eleyele, Ibadan.
The congress produced a new set of executive officers led by Hon. Kazeem Fantola as Chairman. Other elected officers include Alhaja Silifatu Olanrewaju (Vice Chairman), Hon. Sikiru Adetona (Secretary), Soliu Babatunde (Assistant Secretary), Adewale Rasheed Adekunle (Treasurer), Mrs. Cecilia Akande (Financial Secretary), Hon Kamorudeen Oladejo (PRO), Mr Akeem Ige (Assistant PRO), Muyiwa Adeosun (Organizing Secretary), Hon. Adeleke Saheed (Youth Leader), Oke Kehinde (Legal Adviser), Alfa Mumeen Alabi (Auditor), Hon. (Mrs.) Shade Adenekan (Women Leader), among others including Ex-officio 1 – Akeem Ogun, Ex-officio 2 – Sola Oladimeji, Ex-officio 3 – Sarafa Asukuna, Ex-officio 4 – Timothy Mogbojubola, Ex-officio 5 – Asimiyu Gbolagade, National Delegate – Hon Akeem Obadara, State Delegate – Alhaji Lukman Adesina.
The Executive Chairman of Ibadan NorthWest Local Government, Alhaji Rahman Adepoju, praised party leaders, stakeholders, and members for their cooperation, which he said ensured a smooth and successful congress. He commended the outgoing executives led by Alhaji Lukman Adesina, noting their contributions to PDP’s victories at both state and local government elections, as well as their role in returning Governor Seyi Makinde for a second term.
“Unity and oneness are the reasons Ibadan NorthWest Local Government stands out,” Adepoju declared, urging the new executives to work in harmony to achieve more successes in forthcoming elections.
Alhaji Lukman Adesina, the outgoing PDP chairman, expressed gratitude for completing an eight-year tenure, attributing the success to divine guidance and the support of stakeholders. He appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde, the Governor Seyi Makinde; the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Hon Wasiu Adeleke, Secretary of PDP Oyo State, Hon Rahman Adepoju; Executive Chairman of Ibadan NorthWest, Hon Labule Ishola; S. A. Federal Constituency, Hon Ganiy Omotosho; Political Head of Oke’badan LCDA, Former Lawmakers; Hon Akeem Obadara, Hon Femi Joshia, Present Lawmaker; Hon D-Al-Ameen representing Ibadan NorthWest State Constituency, Hon Comrade Oladejo, Hon Asukuna, Hon Ajiwe Hon Engr Kolawole and all critical stakeholders for their cooperation. Adesina embraced the new chairman, Hon. Kazeem Fantola, and wished him a successful tenure.
The Acting PRO of PDP Oyo State, Hon. Micheal Ogunsina, described Ibadan NorthWest as the most organised local government in the 2025 PDP congress. National representatives, including HON. DENNIS EMMANUEL UKPABIO (PhD), ALH. GAMBO ISA GAUDE, MRS NSOFOR CORDELIA, ALH. BADADI MUHAMMED MADAKI, DR. CHRISTOPHER ODIANERO, OGBOJI ABDULLAHI, ABDULRAHMAN UMAR, ALH. WAHEED ALAPOTI including The Secretary of PDP Oyo State; Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke and The Executive Chairman of Oyo State Hospital Management Board; Mogaji Akin Fagbemi also commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of the congress.
The Chairman of the PDP Electoral Congress Committee expressed delight at the level of organisation and extended greetings from the party’s national leadership, encouraging members to remain dedicated.
In his acceptance speech, the new PDP chairman, Hon. Kazeem Fantola, expressed gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde, state and local party leaders, lawmakers, and stakeholders for their support. He pledged inclusive leadership and promised to build on the successes of his predecessor.
“We promise a successful tenure and a greater PDP,” Fantola affirmed, assuring members of unity and growth at the grassroots.
The National Delegate, Hon Akeem Obadara appreciated the opportunity to represent PDP at the national and reaffirmed that PDP Ibadan NorthWest Local Government is all inclusive.
The congress was attended by 233 delegates across the 11 wards of Ibadan NorthWest, with security operatives, INEC officials, and PDP national delegates present to witness the process. The congress reaffirmed the local government’s reputation as a model for party organisation and grassroots mobilisation in Oyo State.
