In a heartwarming gesture that brought relief to many transport operators, the Senior Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Ramata Agberemi Dabo (RAD), on Saturday, September 13, 2025, rolled out free fuel distribution to commercial motorcycle operators (popularly known as Okada riders) in Ibadan.
The initiative, which took place at a designated filling station in the city, attracted hundreds of riders who expressed joy and appreciation for the intervention at a time when rising fuel prices have continued to burden daily commuters and transport workers.

Speaking during the exercise, Hon. RAD noted that the gesture was aimed at easing the economic pressure faced by Okada riders, who play a critical role in grassroots mobility and urban transportation. She emphasized that the welfare of citizens, particularly those in the informal transport sector, remains a priority for the Makinde-led administration.

“Governor Seyi Makinde is committed to policies and initiatives that directly impact the people positively. Today’s fuel support is part of that vision, and I am glad to contribute to easing the stress of our hardworking riders,” Hon. RAD stated.

Okada riders, in turn, commended Hon. RAD for the initiative, describing her as a grassroots-friendly leader who understands the daily struggles of the common people. Many of them highlighted that the gesture not only provided immediate relief but also reaffirmed their confidence in the PDP-led administration in Oyo State.
With smiles on their faces and fuel in their tanks, the Okada riders departed the venue, expressing renewed hope in leadership that prioritizes human-centered governance.
