NAYEI Fulfills Promise: School Fees Paid for Uthman Qoyyum; Stipend Awarded to His Mother
The Nurudeen Adewale Youth Empowerment Initiatives (NAYEI) has fulfilled its promise by paying the school fees of Uthman Qoyyum, the first son of Mrs. Mariam Uthman, a widow whose story went viral on Facebook through the founder of “We Are the Happy People,” Mrs. Aderogba Hadisat Olajumoke.
In early August, NAYEI’s team took action to support Mrs. Uthman’s touching story during a visit, where they awarded a full-term scholarship to Uthman Qoyyum, covering his education from primary school through the completion of secondary school. The foundation has also committed to paying for his WAEC exams and all other related academic expenses.
In a media chat yesterday, NAYEI’s chairman, Mr. Nurudeen Adewale Isiaq, highlighted the foundation’s various achievements. He stated, “Today, we are paying Uthman Qoyyum’s school fees.” During the visit, the team met with the management of the Ibrash Centre for Islamic and Western Education Management, where they filled out and signed the enrollment form for Qoyyum. The chairman also awarded a monthly stipend to Qoyyum’s mother for her upkeep and pledged to provide all necessary resources to ensure Qoyyum’s success in his academic journey.
Mr. Afeez Omoniyi, the foundation’s Student Affairs manager, announced that Qoyyum’s enrollment documents have been submitted to the school management following the payment of his fees. He also spoke with the management about the support Qoyyum would need to catch up with his fellow students, promising that the team would continue to check on him throughout the school year.
Responding to this generous gesture, the headmaster of the school, Mr. Ibrash Muideen, expressed gratitude to the foundation for their support of Uthman Qoyyum. He stated that if more organizations could emulate what the Nurudeen Adewale Youth Empowerment Initiatives is doing, the community would significantly improve, as many youths have been positively impacted and transformed into good ambassadors and educators.
The foundation remains committed to reaching out to those in need, creating an enabling environment for sound and quality education, supporting the less privileged, and equipping youth with skills that benefit the community.
