In a landmark move to drive agricultural industrialization in Oyo State, Governor @seyi_amakinde on Saturday 2nd Aug,2025 , hosted top dignitaries including the Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari (who represented Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima), and the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, Dr. @drakinwumiadesina at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Oyo State Agribusiness Industrial Hub, Atan-Ijaiye.
The project site—located at Ijaiye—is set to become the home of the Oyo State Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ), a transformative initiative occupying 300 hectares within a larger 3,000-hectare agro-industrial zone.
The hub will feature a Rungis-style wholesale agrifood market, integrated crop and livestock production systems, advanced processing facilities, and supporting infrastructure—positioning Oyo State as a leading force in agribusiness in Nigeria and West Africa.
This groundbreaking reflects the success of years of strategic planning and stakeholder engagement led by Dr. @debo.akande E.A to H.E on Agribusiness, Director-General of Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA) and a key driver of the SAPZ initiative in collaboration with national and international development partners.
Governor Makinde reiterated his administration’s commitment to economic diversification through agriculture, while stakeholders applauded the SAPZ as a catalyst for food security, youth employment, and rural transformation.
