… Affirms Chief Ronke Adekola Ad Iyaloja Eleyele

As a way of curbing  the incessant  traffic and road accidents in Eleyele/Ologuneru  axis, the Executive  Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government,Alh AbdulRahman Olanrewaju Adepoju
along with his working  cabinet and security  operatives  within  the Council area were on official visits to Eleyele  market for interactive  meetings with  market  traders  and motorists.

The Chairman  affirmed  that the security  reports  given to him highlighted
that illegal parking by motorists, Okada riders  and street  trading  were part of the causes  of recent motor accidents in the Eleyele  market  where  some lives were lost. Hence, the  need  for prompt   interventions to prevent  future  occurrences.

He asserted that the present Administration under the leadership of His Excellency Engr Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde is not out to witch-hunt or inconvenient anyone but to create  a conducive  living and commercial  environment  for all and sundry.

In this regard, the Executive  Chairman  has ordered  that henceforth, no trader  should  display  his/her goods by the roadsides and no motorist should  alight or carry passengers by roadsides. All traders  are enjoined  to make use of the spaces provided  for them  for their  commercial  activities. He added that motorists, Okada and tricycle riders should  move to all designated  motor parks  provided for them. The Chairman  reiterated  that anybody regardless of socio- political status, found  wanton or   violating traffic rules will be punished in accordance  with the law.

In the same vein, the Council Chairman has clarified that the government recognized Iyalooja Eleyele as  Chief (Mrs) Ronke Adekola and no one should  claim  the title. He maintained  that the Local  government has not imposed anyone on Eleyele traders as iyalooja as broadcast by a radio  presenter on a radio  program. The Chairman  asserted  that the selection of  Eleyele  market Executives  was done by the Executives of Ibadan North West Local Government  market  Traders  in collaboration  with Traders  of Eleyele market which was eventually  endorsed by the  Executive Chairman.  He enjoined all and  sundry in the  market to work with the new Executives  led by   Chief (Mrs) Ronke Adekola  for the progress  of the market. 

Alh Adepoju  however, warned that  anyone or team parading themselves  as Iyalooja  or Executives of  Eleyele  market should desist  from such impersonation  as anyone  found wanton  will  be punished in accordance with the  law.

In addition,the Executive Chairman has stressed  that all traders in Eleyele displaying their goods or hawking by the roadside  have been given  till July 30,2025 to vacate the place and move to the newly allotted market  site.
Adding  that  security  operatives  have been deployed  to all the nooks and crannies of Eleyele area to carry out their  schedules as expected without  minding  whose ox is gored.

On the Executive Chairman’s Entourage were the Chief of staff, Hon Kazeem Fantola, Councillors, Supervisory Councillors, Head of Local Government Administration  Mrs Rachael Olabode, Director of  Finance Mrs Dasola  Jimoh, Head of Estate/Lands Unit Mrs Atewologun.
Others were  DPO Eleyele Division and
NSCDC officers among  others.
