Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem (AKK), a leading gubernatorial aspirant for the 2027 elections in Oyo State, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing deep appreciation for the overwhelming support he received during his formal declaration event held in Ibadan.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Dr. Kareem described the day as a “remarkable milestone” in his political journey, as a massive crowd of party faithful and supporters rallied with him from his residence at AKK House to the APC Secretariat in Oke Ado.
“I am overwhelmed with gratitude,” Dr. Kareem said. “The love, solidarity, and warm reception I received from APC stalwarts, party executives, ward leaders, and supporters have deeply touched me. I am truly honoured to be welcomed into this great party, which remains committed to the progress of Oyo State and Nigeria.”
He commended the leadership of the APC in Oyo State for their organisation and support, with special mention of Otunba Moses Alake Adeyemo, former Deputy Governor of the state, who graced the occasion with his full presence.
Dr. Kareem also acknowledged the contributions of the Aseyori Support Group (ASG) for their unwavering commitment and efforts in mobilising supporters, as well as security agencies and individuals who ensured the smooth and peaceful conduct of the event.
Reflecting on his entry into the APC, Dr. Kareem expressed confidence that his involvement would strengthen ongoing reform efforts within the party and bring impactful leadership to Oyo State.
“With the collective strength of the APC, driven by intelligent minds and seasoned leaders, we can deliver transformative governance that prioritises people’s welfare, drives development, and expands opportunity,” he stated. “I am ready to serve, to collaborate, and to bring my passion and experience into building a stronger, more inclusive APC that delivers for the people.”
He concluded with a message of hope to the citizens of Oyo State, promising dedication to the state’s progress. “The best is yet to come,” he affirmed. “Let us unite around a shared vision for a better Oyo State.”
