Celebrating the Life, Impact, and Legacy of a Trailblazer (1917–2013)
Twelve years may have passed, but the memory of Late Alhaja Dr. Abibatu Asabi Mogaji remains ever fresh, ever glowing, and ever inspiring. A woman of strength, unmatched character, and monumental impact, she was not only a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, but a beacon of hope and a pillar of commerce and community development in Nigeria.
As the President-General of the Association of Commodity Market Women and Men of Nigeria (ACMWMN), Alhaja Mogaji stood as a fearless advocate for market traders, especially women, promoting dignity, fairness, and economic empowerment at a time when their voices were often unheard. She blazed a trail that opened opportunities for countless others, lifting many out of poverty through her influence, generosity, and deep-rooted values.
A deeply religious and principled woman, she embodied leadership with compassion. Her life was a testament to courage, resilience, and service the kind of values that transcend generations and continue to echo in the lives she touched. Even in her absence, her legacy looms large, as the virtues she championed remain relevant in today’s society.
Today, we do not mourn; we celebrate. We celebrate a legend, a reformer, a cultural matriarch, and a mother of the nation. We remember her dedication to community development and the growth of local commerce. We remember the fierce love she had for her people, and the wisdom she imparted through every action, every speech, and every policy she influenced.
As we gather for the 12th Year Fidau Prayers on Monday, June 16th, 2025, we call on all to honour her memory not only with words but with actions that reflect the noble ideals she lived for unity, progress, empowerment, and faith.
May Almighty Allah (SWT) continue to grant her Al-Jannah Al-Firdaus and preserve her legacy in the hearts and deeds of all who knew and loved her.
