Grassroots Sports Initiative: D-Al-Ameen Competition Aims to Develop Young Talents

Akintola Zone has emerged victorious in the maiden edition of the D-Al-Ameen Primary School Football Competition, organized in collaboration with the Education Secretary of Ibadan North West, Mr. Kehinde Ayoade.

The final match, held at the Anwarul Islam Grammar School field in Eleyele, Ibadan, ended in a dramatic 4-2 penalty shootout win for Akintola Zone over Eleyele Zone.

Army Zone claimed third place after defeating Idikan Zone 3-1, also via penalties.

In post-match interviews, the coaches of Akintola and Eleyele zones, Mr. Kehinde Oladepo and Mrs. Folashade Hawudu, praised the initiative as a commendable effort in discovering and nurturing young football talents. They emphasized the importance of sustaining grassroots sports programs, especially within schools.

Hon (Dr) Dawood Olalere, widely known as D-Al-Ameen and the Member representing Ibadan NorthWest State Constituency, described the competition as a milestone achievement for his constituency. According to him, the event was designed to harness and develop the sporting potential of young children, particularly in football.

He also called on parents to support and encourage their children’s talents in sports and other creative pursuits.

The event concluded with the presentation of medals and a trophy to the winning team, marking a memorable end to a successful grassroots sports initiative.
