Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology Hosts Induction Ceremony for Community Health Workers

The Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology, Eleyele, Ibadan, recently hosted an induction ceremony for 138 Junior Community Health Extension Workers (JCHEWs) and Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs) who graduated in 2024. The ceremony was organized by the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN).

The event was attended by notable figures in the health and education sectors, including: Oyo State Honorable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi
Executive Secretary, Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Muhedeen Babatunde Olatunji.

Chairperson, National Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria, Mrs.Tolulope Olusola (represented by the association secretary, Mr. Awojobi)

The Provost of the College, Pharm. Oluyemisi Moradeke Oyewo, congratulated the inductees and urged them to uphold the ethics of their profession.

The Oyo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, charged the inductees to be frontline warriors in promoting health awareness and providing basic healthcare to those in need.

The Registrar and CEO of CHPRBN, Dr. Bashir Idris Lafidin Jamaa (represented by Dr. Jacob Walson Ezekiel), highlighted the Board’s efforts to re-engineer its regulatory framework and align with national policies.

The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, was honored with the Transformational Leadership Award by the Community Health Training’ Department of the Oyo State College of Health Science and technology Eleyele Ibadan for his support for the health and education sectors in Oyo State.

The Provost of the College, Pharmacist Oluyemisi Moradeke Oyewo was also given an Award of Leadership Excellence for her sterling performance and immense contributions to the College.

Mrs Oyewo who expressed her Joy over the regular support of the present administration for the College,felicitated His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde on the six years of his Govt in Oyo State.

The inductees were charged by the Head of the department, ‘Community Health Training’,Mrs Temitope Afolake H.Awotunde  to abide by their professional ethics and conduct themselves in accordance with the oaths of allegiance they have taken.

The ceremony ended on a high note with the college troupe entertaining the Guests with dance and funfair, adding a touch of joy to the celebration at the occasion.
