The political landscape of Oyo State and the South West region of Nigeria mourns, following the death of Chief Yekini Adeojo, the esteemed founder of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the South West.
The news of his passing today, April 4, 2025, has elicited heartfelt condolences from prominent figures across the state, including Hon (Dr) Dawood Olalere D-Al-Ameen, the Member Representing Ibadan NorthWest State Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly.
Chief Yekini Adeojo, a towering figure in South West politics and a former National Deputy Chairman of the PDP, was widely regarded as a pillar of the party in the region. His contributions to the growth and development of the PDP have left an indelible mark on the political history of Nigeria.
In a statement released by SoroSoke Media, Hon (Dr) D-Al-Ameen expressed his deep sorrow and extended his sincere condolences to the family of the late elder statesman most especially the Executive Chairman of Ido Local Governmen, Hon Sheriff Adeojo and Hon Elias Adeojo. He acknowledged the philanthropist, Chief Adeojo’s immense contributions to the PDP, the South West a d Nigeria as a whole.
“It is with a heavy heart that I received the news of the passing of Chief Yekini Adeojo,” stated Hon (Dr) D-Al-Ameen.
“He was a true leader, a dedicated party man, and a significant figure in the political and religious tapestry of our region. His vision and tireless efforts were instrumental in establishing and nurturing the People’s Democratic Party in the South West.”
Dr D-Al-Ameen also extended his heartfelt sympathies to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde, during this period of grief. He recognized the close relationship and respect that existed between the Governor and the late Chief Adeojo.
“My thoughts and prayers are with His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, and the entire Adeojo family at this difficult time,” Hon (Dr) D-Al-Ameen added.
“Chief Adeojo’s wisdom and guidance will be sorely missed.
May Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest and give his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
